Animal licences
- Cat boarding If you provide cat boarding for other people's cats as part or all of your business, you will need a cat boarding licence.
- Dog breeding If you mate dogs with the intention to sell puppies or earn a fee from the sale, you may need a dog breeding licence.
- Dog day care If you provide short-term daytime only boarding for other people’s dogs, you will need a dog day care licence.
- Dog home boarder If you provide daytime and overnight boarding for other people’s dogs in your own home, you will need a dog home boarder licence.
- Dog kennel boarding If you provide housing for dogs that is part or solely the activity of your business, you will need a dog kennel boarding licence.
- Dangerous and wild animals licence You will need a licence from the council to keep dangerous or wild animals.
- Hiring out horses If you hire out horses for riding, or instruction in riding, you need a licence if they're carried out as a commercial business.
- Keep or train animals for exhibition If you keep or train animals for exhibition as a commercial business, you will need a licence if you make money from the activity.
- Selling animals as pets You need a licence to sell animals as pets. This applies if your business is based at home, or you sell animals online.
