Council Tax: Discount for religious communities
If you are 18 or over and an active member of a religious community you're not counted for Council Tax purposes if you meet both of the following criteria:
- You have no income or capital of your own and are dependent on the religious community for support. We will ignore any pension from a previous job.
- Your religious community is mainly involved in prayer, contemplation, the relief of suffering, education or any combination of these.
You could get a discount on your bill if a member of a religious community lives with you, but not if there are still two or more people in the household who are counted for Council Tax purposes.
