Consultation on the changes to specialist provision managed by Princes Primary School, L8

We are consulting on changes to the specialist provision currently offered by Princes Primary School on the Phoenix Primary School site, with effect from 1st September 2018. The proposal is to:

  • Relocate the provision managed by Princes Primary School, currently provided on the Phoenix Primary School site, to the specialist accommodation on the Matthew Arnold School site.
  • Decommission the assessment provision.
  • Change the designation of the school from SLD plus assessment to SLD.
  • Increase the number of pupils from 131 to 144.

What happens to my views?

Any comments received by letter or email will be reported to the council when it comes to take a decision on the proposals. Council papers are public documents and are posted on this website.

Any comments you make, therefore, will be made public but the papers will be edited before publication, as appropriate, to preserve anonymity in compliance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and to prevent copying of signatures.

What happens next?

Feedback from the consultation will be considered by cabinet. If cabinet decides to continue with the proposals after considering the comments received, it will begin the process of implementing them.

  • Statutory notices will be posted at the schools and published in the Liverpool Echo in the Summer Term 2018.
  • There will be a period of four weeks during which anyone can comment on or object to the proposals.

 Any comments or objections received during this period will be reported to cabinet which will then decide whether or not to approve the proposals.


The expected timetable for progress of the proposals is as follows:

  • Consultation period: 15th March 2018 - 10th April 2018
  • Cabinet decision whether to proceed to publish proposals: April 2018
  • If approved, Statutory Notices will be published with four week representation period: April 2018
  • Cabinet decision: June 2018
  • Implementation date: 1st September 2018
