Consultation on the future of Lifestyles Everton Park Sports Centre

Consultation on the future of Lifestyles Everton Park Sports Centre

Starts: Monday 4th December 2017.
Ends:  Monday 29th January 2018.

What we're consulting on

Following drastic cuts in government funding, Liverpool City Council must save £90m over the next three years, £3 million of which must be cut from our sport and recreation service. We have already reduced staff and made savings across the whole service, but need to do more.

Lifestyles Everton Park cost the council £540k to run in the year 2016/17 - over and above any income made. The swimming pool and centre are over 30 years old and need significant investment to bring them up to a good standard. Unfortunately, this is money we do not have.

In this context, there is now an opportunity to explore options to change the operating model for the centre.

We are considering transferring the management of Lifestyles Everton Park to another organisation. We would insist any new provider continues to guarantee public access to the centre, along with affordable memberships and good quality facilities.
