Social care services for adults

Transforming in-house services

Liverpool City Council’s social care services for adults are going through their biggest changes for many years.

After extensive consultation, starting in September 2010, with service users and their families and carers, we began re-structuring the services we provide both from our buildings and in the community.

These plans also include refurbishing the buildings where we provide day services and re-ablement care.

The refurbishment projects that we have completed, or are close to completing, are listed below.

Sedgemoor Dementia Support Centre

This former council care home has been transformed into a re-ablement hub for people with dementia.

As well as providing bed-based re-ablement care, the centre also provides a day service. Facilities include a 4D interactive suite and a sensory garden.

Sedgemoor was officially opened on 16 May 2013.

Granby Hub

Another former council care home, this centre was officially opened on 12 August 2013 after extensive refurbishment and now also has a garden area.

Granby provides general bed based re-ablement services, usually for people who have had a stay in hospital but who are not yet able to return home.

Venmore Hub

Work is under way on a new day centre at Venmore and will be completed in 2014.

Venmore is another former council care home which offers bed-based re-ablement support to people who have had a stroke.

Alderwood satellite

This centre is based in The Bridge Chapel Centre, Heath Road, L19 4XR, and provides a day service for people who have a learning disability. The centre has been re-decorated, has new furniture and there is also a small shop, which is open to the public, where service users sell small gift items.

The Lime

The Lime, formerly Lime Court, was officially opened on 14 July 2014 and provides day services for people who have a learning or physical disability. See how the building was transformed.

There is now a hydrotherapy pool and 4D room at The Lime, as well as a community café. The pool and 4D room and other rooms, including a dance studio, are available to hire by outside organisations, both during the day and in the evening, subject to use by the council.

If you are interested in room hire at The Lime, which is on Upper Baker Street, L6 1NB, please call 0151 233 5085 for charges and availability.

Community events are also held at The Lime. To find out what’s going on please follow The Lime on Twitter.
