Environmental Health and Trading Standards enforcement

About the policy

The Environmental Health and Trading Standards Enforcement Policy exists to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of all residents, visitors and people who work in the city.

The policy aims to ensure that enforcement action is consistent and conforms to the principles of the Cabinet Office Enforcement Concordat.

Enforcement action, whether that is verbal warnings, written warnings, statutory notices, formal cautions or prosecution, is based upon an assessment to public health and the health, safety and welfare of Liverpool residents.

Formal enforcement action will not be taken as a punitive response to minor technical contraventions of legislation.
