Short breaks are a good way of giving looked after people a break from the usual routine and giving you a break from your usual caring role.
Who can apply?
You can apply for a short break if you or the person you care for would not be able to live in the community without the care and support of a family member or friend. There may be a charge depending on your circumstances, but this will be explained to you during an assessment
How to apply
Contact Careline to apply for short breaks.
What type of break?
As well as short breaks, we can also provide the following:
- Breaks for people in their own homes. A qualified care worker will stay with the looked after person in their own home to allow carers to go out and do the things they need.
- Family based breaks. The person you care for will stay with another family away from your home. The carers are chosen and matched to individuals to ensure that their stay is as enjoyable as possible. Stays can be as short as one day or as long as several weeks.
- Breaks based on social and leisure activities. The looked after person will be taken out for the day with a small group of people with similar needs. This type of break aims to develop social activities and links in the community.
- Residential breaks. The looked after person will stay overnight in a residential care home which best suits their needs. Details of their stay will be agreed with you, them and their social worker.
