What is sheltered housing?
Sheltered housing is secure accommodation for rent, specifically designed for people over 55.
The housing has communal facilities such as lounge, laundry, hairdressing salon etc but each flat, studio or bungalow is self contained allowing you to live independently.
All sheltered housing schemes have a scheme manager who manage the day to day running of the building and organise activities and events for residents.
The sheltered housing schemes in Liverpool are provided by Access Liverpool, a partnership between the council and registered social landlords who have sheltered housing for rent.

How to apply
You can:
- Download, complete and return the Access Liverpool application form.
- Contact Access Liverpool for an application form.
- Pick a form up from any One Stop Shop, Age Concern or registered social landlord in Liverpool. Staff can help you with your application if you need it.
Please ensure that you include any supporting documents we request with your application. These are detailed on the form.
What happens next?
We will assess your application within 30 days and write to you with our decision.
Successful applications
Once accepted, you become eligible for over 60 housing schemes across the city.
We consider applications in date order. When your name reaches the top of the list you will be offered the next vacancy.
Unsuccessful applications
You have the right to appeal against any decision by contacting Access Liverpool within 28 days of receiving the decision and explain why you think the decision was incorrect.
