Sheltered housing
Sheltered housing is accommodation for rent, which is specially designed for older people so they can live independently, with a range of communal facilities such as a lounge, laundry, and hairdressing.
Each sheltered scheme has a scheme manager and most have alarm systems.
How to apply
You must join the Property Pool Plus housing register before you can apply for accommodation.
Apply online via the Property Pool Plus website
If you need help completing the application you can contact your housing association.
Find a property
Once you have registered, you can search the Property Pool Plus website for sheltered housing that meets your needs across the five Merseyside local authority areas: Liverpool, Halton, Knowsley, Sefton and Wirral. The system will show vacant properties and allow you to express an interest or 'place a bid'.
If you don't have access to the internet, or prefer not to use the online service, don't worry. Properties will continue to be advertised each week on display boards in housing association offices and newsletters.
Applying for a property
When you have found a property you can apply or 'place a bid':
- Online via the Property Pool Plus website.
- By telephoning the 24-hour automated bidding line on 0300 777 3022.
- By texting 07537 402 602.
- Through your TV if you are a Virgin Media or Sky subscriber.
Remember, only those schemes without waiting lists are currently shown on Property Pool Plus.
