New applications now go through Property Pool Plus, Merseyside's choice based lettings system, and not ACCESS Liverpool.
This means that you will be able to view and apply for sheltered housing accommodation across the five Merseyside local authority areas: Liverpool, Halton, Knowsley, Sefton and Wirral. It also means that the process of allocating properties is more cost efficient, open and transparent.
Please note: If you are an existing customer currently on a waiting list for a sheltered housing scheme, the list will be honoured in application date order.
You must join the Property Pool Plus housing register before you can apply for accommodation.
You can also ask for a paper copy from a housing association office or a One Stop Shop.
If you need help completing the application you can contact your housing association or visit your local One Stop Shop.
Once you have registered, you can search the Property Pool Plus website for sheltered housing that meets your needs. The system will show vacant properties and allow you to express an interest or 'place a bid'.
At the moment, only sheltered housing schemes with no waiting lists are shown on Property Pool Plus. From 1st October 2012 all sheltered housing schemes will be listed along with an auto bid facility for vulnerable customers where bids can be placed on their behalf. To set up auto bid contact your housing association.
If you don't have access to the internet, or prefer not to use the online service, don't worry. Properties will continue to be advertised each week on display boards in housing association offices and newsletters.
When you have found a property you can apply or 'place a bid':
Remember, only those schemes without waiting lists are currently shown on Property Pool Plus. The full list of sheltered housing schemes will appear on Property Pool Plus from 1st October 2012.
