About

Over the next few years we’re spending £250m on Liverpool's roads to make our city a better place to live, work and visit. We’re improving key routes that are in poor condition and carry large volumes of traffic. Unfortunately, there will be short-term disruption but we’ll do everything we can to keep things moving.

The package of measures taking place includes:

  • Road surfacing improvement.
  • A review and improvement of traffic lights.
  • Improvements to key traffic junctions for both drivers and pedestrians.
  • A reduction in bottlenecks on key transport routes by widening roads.
  • A review of bus routes to reduce delays.
  • Greater priority for pedestrians and cyclists.
  • Improvements to signs and street lighting.

There are huge economic benefits to be had from well-maintained, high-quality highways that keep traffic flowing and vehicle running costs low. And by ensuring people and goods can move efficiently, we'll make our city a more desirable place to live, work, visit and do business in.
