Other types of benefit support you can get
Although Universal Credit is run by the DWP, not the council, we can provide the following help and support.
- Help to pay your council tax
- Emergency help with food, household necessities and utility costs from our Liverpool Citizens Support Scheme. This scheme is not intended to provide help with housing costs.
- Discretionary Housing Payments - help people who need extra help with their rent when their housing cost element of Universal Credit does not meet the full value of their rent. If you are suffering financial hardship as a result, or your tenancy is at risk you may be able to get a discretionary payment to help towards these payments.

- School travel support
