Council Tax payments

The coronavirus outbreak is having a significant impact on our residents and many people may be struggling to pay Council Tax, especially if they have suffered a sudden drop in income.

If you are struggling to pay your Council Tax please let us know by email if possible at revenue.service@liverpool.gov.uk. You can also use our online services to tell us of changes.

Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support

We will be doing all we can to continue to pay Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support as quickly as possible to our residents. If you need to contact us about your Housing Benefit or Council Tax Support please email benefits.service@liverpool.gov.uk

If possible you should also send any evidence or supporting documents that you have been asked to provide to this email address instead of sending them through the post.

Council Tax reduction for low income families

Government has confirmed Council Tax for working-age low income households already on a reduced bill will be cut further. The maximum cut will be £150 per household, and where a bill is already below £150 it will be reduced to zero.

Unfortunately this extra help was not announced in time for annual Council Tax bills and it is not yet included in the charges for 2020/2021 and associated bills.

If you are entitled to Council Tax Support and are of working age, a revised bill for 2020/2021 will be sent to you as soon as possible. This means that you don't need to contact us and you don't need to apply for this further reduction. Find out more about this reduction.
