Due to the impact of the Coronavirus, the European Settlement Scheme advice and scanning and drop-in service is suspended until further notice.

What is the EU settlement scheme?
If you live in the UK and are from the EU, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Switzerland, you can apply for settled or pre-settled status in the UK to protect the rights that you have now. You can apply free of charge via the government’s EU settlement scheme’s app.
Most people don't need to pay a solicitor to help them apply. You can check your personal situation by using GOV.UK's online tool.
As part of the application process you need to scan your ID on your phone or device.
How does the ID scanning service work?
If you cannot use the EU settlement scheme's app on your phone or device, staff from Liverpool Register Office are offering an ID scanning service.
Drop-in sessions are every Thursday in our One Stop Shop in St John’s Market between 9:45am and 11:45am.
Be sure to come in before you start your application. If you have already started the application process we will not be able to help you.
This is a scanning only service and does not guarantee the success of your application. We cannot provide any advice on your application, immigration or settled status.
What do I need to bring?
You will need to bring a mobile phone that can receive texts or a device that can receive emails so you can be sent a code that you will need to enter in your online application.
You will also need to bring one of the biometric ID documents below so we can scan them. We cannot accept national identity cards.
- EU biometric passport if you’re an EU citizen
- UK residence card with a biometric chip if you’re the non-EU family member of an EU citizen
We will hand your ID documents back to you - there is no need to leave them with us.
We charge a fee of £14 per applicant to use this service. This fee has been set by the Home Office. You can pay on the day using cash, a credit or debit card.
What happens next?
Once we have scanned your ID documents you will need to start your application for EU settled status.
