Cases, control and testing

Data extracted covering testing up to 13th February 2021 show that the total number of confirmed cases for the last 7 days is 965, a decrease of 418 cases on the previous week. The latest weekly rate of Covid--19 in Liverpool is 193.8 per 100,000 population and the latest positivity testing rate* is 9.6%.
Of the 965 confirmed cases in the last 7 days, 203 (21%) were detected using Lateral Flow Testing (LFT) kits.
The majority of cases (52%) were in those aged under 40 years, whereas 30% cases were in those aged 40-59 yrs. Of all the confirmed cases in the last seven days 51% were female and 49% were male. Of those cases where ethnicity was given, 83% people were recorded as White British and 17% people were from a Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic background.
Compared to the previous week the rate of new infections in the city has slightly decreased, however the 7 day rate remains very high.
The wards with the largest number of confirmed cases are Fazakerley (71 cases), Tuebrook and Stoneycroft (56 cases), Belle Vale (48 cases), Speke-Garston (47 cases), Kirkdale (44 cases), Clubmoor (41 cases), Norris Green (39 cases), Kensington and Fairfield (38 cases), Princes Park (38 cases) and West Derby (35 cases).
Between 9th-15th February 2021 there were 162 registered deaths in Liverpool, of which 38% (n=61) were Covid-19 deaths.
