Report published 16th November 2020

Data extracted covering testing up to 13th November 2020 show that the total number of confirmed cases for the last 7 days is 1381, a increase of 45 cases on the previous week. The latest weekly rate of Covid-19 in Liverpool is 277.3 per 100,000 population and the latest positivity testing rate* is 2.4%.

The majority of cases (51%) were in those aged under 40 years, whereas 28% cases were in those aged 40-59 yrs. Of all the confirmed cases in the last seven days 52% were female and 48% were male. Of those cases where ethnicity was given, 84% people were recorded as White British and 16% people were from a Black and Minority Ethnic background.

Compared to the previous week, we have seen a slight decrease in rates of new infections in the city, however the current 7-day rate remains very high. The rate of new infections in older people is particularly worrying at the current very high level, resulting in increased pressure on hospitals and deaths from Covid for weeks to come.
