Cases, control and testing

Data extracted covering testing up to 23rd February 2021 show that the total number of confirmed cases for the last 7 days is 650, a decrease of 225 cases on the previous week. The latest weekly rate of Covid-19 in Liverpool is 130.5 per 100,000 population and the latest positivity testing rate* is 7.5%.
Of the 650 confirmed cases in the last 7 days, 142 (21.8%) were detected using Lateral Flow Testing (LFT) kits.
The majority of cases (53%) were in those aged under 40 years, whereas 30% cases were in those aged 40-59 yrs. Of all the confirmed cases in the last seven days 52% were female and 48% were male. Of those cases where ethnicity was given, 79% people were recorded as White British and 21% people were from a Black, Asian and minority ethnic background.
Compared to the previous week the rate of new infections in the city has slightly decreased, however the 7-day rate remains very high.
The wards with the largest number of confirmed cases are Speke-Garston (52 cases), Warbreck (51 cases), Tuebrook and Stoneycroft (42 cases), Princes Park (31 cases), Riverside (29 cases), Picton (28 cases), West Derby (28 cases), Croxteth (25 cases), Belle Vale (24 cases) and Clubmoor (24 cases).
Between 18th - 24th February 2021 there were 143 registered deaths in Liverpool, of which 31% (n=44) were Covid-19 deaths.
