Public Health England has issued sector-specific guidance on what precautions to take, what to do if someone develops symptoms and how to limit the spread of the virus.

Businesses and premises that must remain closed

On 23rd March 2020 the government stepped up measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus and save lives. A large number of businesses and premises that involve prolonged close social contact must now close.

Advice for employers on sites and offices that remain open

Employers who do still have people in their offices or onsite should ensure that employees are able to follow Public Health England guidelines including, where possible to:

  • stay a 2 metre distance from other
  • wash their hands with soap and water often - for at least 20 seconds - or use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water is not available
