How to get tested
Tests for people with symptoms
You must book an appointment for a test and self-isolate until you get your result, if you have one or more of the following main Covid-19 symptoms:
- a high temperature - this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back. You do not need to measure your temperature
- a new, continuous cough - this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or three or more coughing episodes in 24 hours. If you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual
- loss or change to your sense of smell or taste - this means you've noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal
People who are sick with coronavirus may have other flu-like symptoms such as, body aches, persistent headaches, sore throat, tiredness, shortness of breath, nausea or diarrhoea.
If you have any of these symptoms but none of the main symptoms, please still book a test and continue to take the usual measures to protect yourself and others from illness.
