Consultation on street closures outside schools during drop off and pick up times

Start date: Monday 5th September 2022
End date: Friday 31st March 2023

What are we consulting on?

We are consulting on a school street project where sections of road will be closed outside schools during drop off and pick up times.

In some locations there will be traffic calming and widened footways introduced on a trial basis. The schools where part-time road closures will take place are:

1. Greenbank Primary School
2. Much Woolton Catholic Primary School
3. St Mary's CoE School
4. St Paul's and St Timothy’s Infant and Junior School
5. St Gregory’s Primary School
6. St Michael in the Hamlet Primary School
7. Rice Lane Primary School, Lynwood Road

A full-time road closure will be trialled on Oakfield, next to All Saints Catholic Primary School, and on Brockenhurst Road, outside Rice Lane Primary School. These closures will be designed to allow pedestrians and cyclists through but not motor vehicles.

These measures were approved by Cabinet in January 2022. View the Cabinet report

How to comment

A survey for each individual school site can be accessed below. You will need to select the school street location in which you want to respond to so that we can ensure the correct views apply to the correct school street site.

What happens to my views?

Views will be collected over a six-month period as part of the Experimental Traffic Regulation Order process.

Following this time, we will review the responses and see if any changes need to be made.

We ask for your details on the survey so we can contact you to discuss your comments if we need to. Your comments may be included in the consultation report given to committee and published on this website, but your name and details will not appear next to them.

All comments will be kept solely for the purposes of this consultation and will be destroyed 12 months after it closes.

Read our privacy notice which tells you how we use your data.

What happens next?

We will review and monitor how each school street is functioning over the first six months. This will take into account the views which are received from stakeholders.

There is the potential that the views and comments receive will need to be presented to the Highways and Public Spaces representation committee. If this is the case, respondents will be contacted so they are aware of when the meeting will take place and if they wish to participate.
