Covid-19 cases and control plan

Data extracted covering testing up to 11 December 2020 show that the total number of confirmed cases for the last 7 days is 474, an increase of 29 cases on the previous week. The latest weekly rate of COVID-19 in Liverpool is 95.2 per 100,000 population and the latest positivity testing rate* is 2.2%.
474 confirmed cases in the last 7 days, 82 (17.3%) were detected using Lateral Flow Testing (LFT) kits.
The majority of cases (52%) were in those aged under 40 years, whereas 30% cases were in those aged 40-59 yrs. Of all the confirmed cases in the last seven days 58% were female and 42% were male. Of those cases where ethnicity was given, 81% people were recorded as White British and 19% people were from a Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic background.
Compared to the previous week, we have seen a slight increase in rates of new infections in the city, the current 7 days rate remains high.
The wards with the largest number of confirmed cases are Picton (26 cases), Riverside (22 cases), Kensington and Fairfield (22 cases), Fazakerley (22 cases), Wavertree (21 cases), Everton (21 cases), Knotty Ash (21 cases), Church (19 cases) and Belle Vale (18 cases).
Between 7th-13th December 2020 there were 140 registered deaths in Liverpool, of which 17% (n=24) were COVID-19 deaths.
