Covid-19 cases and control plan

Data extracted covering testing up to 29 January 2021 show that the total number of confirmed cases for the last 7 days is 1797, a decrease of 1104 cases on the previous week.The latest weekly rate of Covid-19 in Liverpool is 360.8 per 100,000 population and the latest positivity testing rate* is 15.4%.
Of the 1797 confirmed cases in the last 7 days, 348 (19.4%) were detected using Lateral Flow Testing (LFT) kits.
The majority of cases (53%) were in those aged under 40 years, whereas 30% cases were in those aged 40-59 yrs. Of all the confirmed cases in the last seven days 52% were female and 48% were male. Of those cases where ethnicity was given, 83% people were recorded as White British and 17% people were from a Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic background.
Compared to the previous week the rate of new infections in the city has slightly decreased, however the 7 day rate remains very high.
The wards with the largest number of confirmed cases are Speke-Garston (99 cases), Yew Tree (85 cases), Fazakerley (83 cases), Norris Green (82 cases), Everton (75 cases), Kirkdale (73 cases), Belle Vale (72 cases), Riverside (72 cases), Anfield (70 cases) and Warbreck (69 cases).
Between 25th-31st January 2021 there were 197 registered deaths in Liverpool, of which 50% (n=98) were Covid-19 deaths.
