Covid-19 cases and control plan

Data extracted covering testing up to 18th January 2021 show that the total number of confirmed cases for the last 7 days is 3560, a decrease of 1297 cases on the previous week. The latest weekly rate of Covid-19 in Liverpool is 714.8 per 100,000 population and the latest positivity testing rate* is 19.9%.
Of the 3560 confirmed cases in the last 7 days, 681 (19.1%) were detected using Lateral Flow Testing (LFT) kits.
The majority of cases (51%) were in those aged under 40 years, whereas 32% cases were in those aged 40-59 yrs. Of all the confirmed cases in the last seven days 53% were female and 47% were male. Of those cases where ethnicity was given, 87% people were recorded as White British and 13% people were from a Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic background.
Compared to the previous week the rate of new infections in the city has slightly decreased, however the 7-day rate remains very high.
The wards with the largest number of confirmed cases are Speke-Garston (194 cases), Riverside (165 cases), Yew Tree (160 cases), Kirkdale (159 cases), Norris Green (158 cases), Fazakerley (153 cases), Everton (144 cases), Belle Vale (136 cases), Clubmoor (134 cases) and Princes Park (129 cases).
Between 14th-20th January 2021 there were 171 registered deaths in Liverpool, of which 42% (n=72) were Covid-19 deaths.
