Covid-19 cases and control plan

Data extracted covering testing up to 19th December 2020 show that the total number of confirmed cases for the last 7 days is 778, an increase of 280 cases on the previous week. The latest weekly rate of Covid-19 in Liverpool is 156.2 per 100,000 population and the latest positivity testing rate* is 5.6%. Of the 778 confirmed cases in the last 7 days, 191 (24.6%) were detected using Lateral Flow Testing (LFT) kits.
The majority of cases (56%) were in those aged under 40 years, whereas 25% cases were in those aged 40-59 yrs. Of all the confirmed cases in the last seven days 53% were female and 47% were male. Of those cases where ethnicity was given, 80% people were recorded as White British and 20% people were from a Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic background.
Compared to the previous week, we have seen an increase in rates of new infections in the city, the current 7 days rate remains high.
The wards with the largest number of confirmed cases are Riverside (61 cases), Picton (38 cases), Princes Park (38 cases), Croxteth (38 cases), Mossley Hill (35 cases), West Derby (34 cases), Old Swan (34 cases), Cressington (33 cases), Central (32 cases) and Tuebrook and Stoneycroft (31 cases).
Between 14th-20th December 2020 there were 133 registered deaths in Liverpool, of which 12% (n=16) were Covid-19 deaths.
