Covid-19 cases and control plan

Data extracted covering testing up to 23rd January 2021 show that the total number of confirmed cases for the last 7 days is 2704, a decrease of 1336 cases on the previous week. The latest weekly rate of Covid-19 in Liverpool is 542.9 per 100,000 population and the latest positivity testing rate* is 18.3%.
Of the 2704 confirmed cases in the last 7 days, 489 (18.1%) were detected using Lateral Flow Testing (LFT) kits.
The majority of cases (51%) were in those aged under 40 years, whereas 31% cases were in those aged 40-59 yrs. Of all the confirmed cases in the last seven days 53% were female and 47% were male. Of those cases where ethnicity was given, 86% people were recorded as White British and 14% people were from a Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic background.
Compared to the previous week the rate of new infections in the city has slightly decreased, however the 7-day rate remains very high.
The wards with the largest number of confirmed cases are Yew Tree (162 cases), Speke-Garston (143 cases), Fazakerley (135 cases), Norris Green (130 cases), Kirkdale (121 cases), Riverside (119 cases), Clubmoor (103 cases), Tuebrook and Stoneycroft (102 cases), Princes Park (98 cases) and Anfield (95 cases).
Between 16th-22nd January 2021 there were 189 registered deaths in Liverpool, of which 44% (n=84) were Covid-19 deaths.
