Covid-19 cases and control plan

Data extracted covering testing up to 31st January 2021 show that the total number of confirmed cases for the last 7 days is 1663, a decrease of 919 cases on the previous week. The latest weekly rate of Covid-19 in Liverpool is 333.9 per 100,000 population and the latest positivity testing rate* is 14.2%.
Of the 1663 confirmed cases in the last 7 days, 309 (18.6%) were detected using Lateral Flow Testing (LFT) kits.
The majority of cases (51%) were in those aged under 40 years, whereas 31% cases were in those aged 40-59 yrs. Of all the confirmed cases in the last seven days 51% were female and 49% were male. Of those cases where ethnicity was given, 84% people were recorded as White British and 16% people were from a Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic background.
Compared to the previous week the rate of new infections in the city has slightly decreased, however the 7 day rate remains very high.
The wards with the largest number of confirmed cases are Speke-Garston (107 cases), Norris Green (77 cases), Yew Tree (75 cases), Anfield (75 cases), Everton (75 cases), Fazakerley (73 cases), Kirkdale (73 cases), Allerton and Hunts Cross (70 cases), Tuebrook and Stoneycroft (67 cases) and Riverside (64 cases).
Between 27 January - 02 February 2021 there were 207 registered deaths in Liverpool, of which 47% (n=98) were Covid-19 deaths.
