Bus service operators grant (BSOG)

Each year Liverpool City council receives a grant from the Department for Transport (DfT)  to help us meet some of the costs of providing transport to support older and vulnerable people who  access social care and health services in the community.  This is called the Bus Service Operators Grant (BSOG).

The BSOG is paid to councils and community transport operators and aims to benefit passengers by:

  • helping operators keep fares down
  • enabling operators to run services that might otherwise be unprofitable and might otherwise be cancelled

Details of how the grant has been used in Liverpool are detailed in the annual survey which is submitted as part of our agreement with the DfT.
