Sefton Park Ward by-election

A by-election will be held on Thursday 17th July 2025 in the Sefton Park Ward due to the resignation of a councillor. 

Standing as a candidate 

If you are interested in standing as a candidate at this election, nomination papers must be submitted to the Returning Officer at the Cunard Building, Water Street, L3 1AH, between 10am-4pm on any date from Thursday 12th June 2025, but no later than 4pm on Friday 20th June 2025.

How to vote

If you live in this ward and are registered to vote, you will receive a poll card by 26th June 2025. If you are not registered and are eligible to vote please register to vote by Tuesday 1st July 2025.

If you would like to vote by post in this election, and you do not already have a postal vote in place, the deadline for receipt of applications is 5pm on Wednesday 2nd July 2025. Find out how to apply for a postal vote (GOV.UK).

Accepted forms of photo ID 

Electors wishing to vote in person on election day at their designated polling station will be required to show a valid form of photo ID. 

If you want to apply for a voter authority certificate because you do not have any of the accepted forms of ID listed on the Electoral Commission website you have up until 5pm on Wednesday 9th July 2025 to do so.
