Apply for a Sustainable Warmth Fund grant
The Sustainable Warmth Fund is a government scheme that the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority has secured for local residents to make homes greener and warmer. It is also known as the Green Homes Grant.
What if the fund for?
The grant is available to help 700 households across Liverpool. It can be used to install a number of insulation and energy measures to residential homes. Some of these measures may include cavity wall insulation, loft insulation, under floor insulation, air source heat pumps, solar panels and replacement windows and doors.
Who can apply?
You will need to meet the eligibility criteria listed below.
- the gross household income must be below £30,000 per year
- a property Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rated at E, F or G. Check your property Energy Performance Certificate rating. If your property does not have an EPC, you can still apply. If its found your EPC is A,B,C or D, you application will be cancelled
If you are a private landlord, your tenant must meet the criteria and make the application. You will also need to make a financial contribution to the work.
If you are a private tenant, please ensure your landlord is willing for work to be done and they understand they will have to make a financial contribution before you apply for the grant.

Once you have submitted your application, we will contact you at later date once we have appointed our contractor to deliver the works.
Funding is limited with 700 Liverpool homes able to benefit from the grant and money is awarded a first come, first served basis.

What happens next?
If your application is successful, we will pass your contact details onto our appointed contractor, who will contact you to arrange a retrofit assessment of your property. The retrofit assessment will identify if your home is suitable for works such as:
- Loft insulation, cavity wall insulation, external wall insulation and under floor insulation
- upgrading single glazing to double glazing - windows and door
- solar photovoltaic (PV) electric panels
- air source heat pumps
How much funding is available?
Grants for owner-occupied homes will cover work up to the value of £10,000.
Grants for privately-rented properties will be up to the value of £5,000 with the landlord paying a third of the cost.
The Sustainable Warmth Fund is delivered by Liverpool City Council in partnership with the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority and the Metro Mayor.
