Children's social care - Make a difference
Our children's social care team
Our children's social care team is like a close family. We support each other when times get tough and help each other out.
The safeguarding team is a busy service and offers a huge range of experiences - we will actively encourage you to develop your professional skills whilst working positively with other professionals, children and their families.
Areas of work
- Children in need
- Children in need of protection
- Children looked after going through care proceedings
- Private law proceedings where safeguarding reports are required
- Children on public law orders who live at home.
We have been using the Signs of Safety model, giving social workers the support they need to build empathy with children and their families. This creates positive change and helps children to live in safe environments where they can transition successfully into their adulthood by achieving good outcomes.
We are looking to move into the Safer Families model, where there will be a team of professionals around the child, co-located. This model could help us reduce our children looked after population and reduce caseloads. It also supports families to positively change their lives and improve the wellbeing of staff by its nature of shared responsibility for decision making and planning.
The teams are hugely supportive and there are great opportunities to develop your career. We want energetic and passionate social workers to continue to develop a high quality service.
