Speke and Garston Coastal Reserve
70 acres of land stretching from Garston Docks to Liverpool John Lennon Airport on the banks of the Mersey Estuary. With panoramic views across the estuary, it's a great location for walking, sailing, bird watching, cycling and plane spotting.
Open all year round, 24 hours a day.
You can access the Coastal Reserve from Speke Boulevard (A561) at the Banks Road junction.
Parking is available at the Blackburne Street entrance and Speke Hall.
You can also access the site via Speke Hall Estate for a fee. Access Via Speke Hall is controlled by the National Trust. See the Speke Hall website for opening hours and entrance fees.
Trans Pennine Trail
Direct access to the Mersey Way and nearby access to the Trans Pennine Trail.
Direct access from Speke Hall, one of the region's finest Grade I Tudor Manor Houses.
Liverpool Sailing Club
Liverpool Sailing Club's 1,000 ft slipway gives the only true access to the River Mersey from the north shore.
Unique access to large expanses of intertidal mudflats and salt marshes.
Local wildlife site
The site is of specific scientific interest (SSSI) and of nature conservation value. Includes a regionally important geological/geomorphological site (RIGS) due to the soft cliffs on the north shore.
