Reading Friends is ready to take off

It’s been a tough year all around and we’ve all felt anxiety, fear, loneliness and sense isolation from friends and family. To help us to get through some of this as a community we’ve brought ‘Reading Friends’ to Liverpool Libraries.

Reading Friends is a new idea developed by the Reading Agency, and is a library based campaign whereby anyone can chat, have conversations and meet new people .

These conversations help to promote wellbeing through the proven power of reading and are started by looking at some of the ideas or themes in the things that all of us read.

It’s a chance to connect together with a good book, poem or newspaper article, and you don’t have to read anything yourself, you can just join us to chat to someone new and have a laugh.

How can I join in?

Group chat sessions will take all forms, online, telephone and eventually face to face in the library spaces when it becomes safe to do so and everyone is welcome to join us.

To join a group with Liverpool Libraries then please call 0151 233 5835 to leave a message or email libraries.enquiries@liverpool.gov.uk and one of our friendly team will get back to you. We can't wait to meet you.
