Writing gives way to the spoken word

Celebrate the end of the Liverpool Year of Writing and enjoy the launch of The Liverpool Year of Spoken Word and Performance on Saturday 26th February 2022 at Central Library.

This is a free family-friendly event with workshops, hands-on activities, advice desks, one-to-one publishing guidance, performance and storytelling runs from 11am-4pm.

2022 sees the launch of the third year of the Liverpool Literacy Cycle with The Liverpool Year of Spoken Word and Performance.

This new programme will engage local communities over the next 12 months with the creative processes involved in performance writing, storytelling, song writing, speaking, and to develop spoken word performance skills.

Planned activities for the year range from writing and performance opportunities, workshops, expert and peer to peer advice, skills building and regular events. The first event of the Liverpool Year of Spoken Word, The Female Forum, will take place on 8th March, International Women’s Day.

The Female Forum is a discussion circle held in a neutral safe space that will focus on broad themes, and give women an opportunity to talk and explore the impact of those themes on their sense of self and wellbeing.
