Other road improvements

In addition to major improvement works to key routes under our Better Roads scheme, we are investing an additional £200 million in our roads, which will be spent on major reconstruction, a resurfacing programme and emergency pothole repairs over the next five years.

You can view our interactive map below using the button for details on which roads are included for 2018/19, what work will be carried out, when and for how long.

Keeping you informed

Some works will directly affect our residents and businesses, and where this is the case we’ll let you know the week before work starts. This will be through letter drops and our Better Roads Facebook and Twitter accounts.

We’ll also keep the map up to date so you can keep on top of what’s happening.

Blue roads indicate planned structural work such as resurfacing or reconstruction.  Red roads indicate preventative maintenance, which involves repair works and a thin surface covering that will protect the road from further deterioration.

Programme of works

  • £15 million emergency response programme to tackle potholes to ensure our roads remain operational.
  • £25 million resurfacing programme to key roads across the city.
  • £160 million major road reconstruction programme.
