Professionals: Safeguarding adults procedure

The Liverpool Safeguarding Adults Board was replaced by the combined Merseyside Safeguarding Adults Board in April 2017 which represents Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton and Wirral councils and consists of lead officers from health and social care services, the police, voluntary and private sector organisations.

The documents below set out the current procedures being followed in Liverpool. New procedures for the combined board are being developed.

The Liverpool Inter-Agency Safeguarding Policy and Procedure must be used where there is a concern, allegation or disclosure of abuse in relation to any adult who is a Liverpool resident or in receipt of services in Liverpool.

Safeguarding Adults Reviews

A Safeguarding Adults Review (SAR) is a multi-agency process which explores what the agencies and people involved in a safeguarding case could have done differently to prevent harm and/or neglect to the adult.

A SAR’s purpose is not to apportion blame but to improve practice and identify opportunities to promote learning and training.
