Licensing and permits

Register as a skip operator

You will need to register your business with Liverpool City Council before you can apply for a licence to place skips on public roads in Liverpool.

To register you must provide:

  • proof of your public liability insurance, with a minimum cover of £5 million
  • proof of current waste carrier's licence

You will be prompted to upload a copy of these during the application process. This can be a photograph or scanned copy of the documents, but must clearly show full details including start and expiry dates.

What happens next?

We will email you within 2 working days to confirm registration or if we need further information.

Once we have confirmed your registration you can apply for skip permits to place skips on public roads within the Liverpool local authority area.

Please note that your skip operator licence should be valid throughout the period of your registration. Failure to register or update your licence will prevent you from applying for a skip licence.
