Local development framework

The Local Development Framework (LDF) is how we plan the future development of Liverpool.  It aims to guide new developments to appropriate locations, while protecting our natural environment and built heritage, and provides guidance to developers on submitting planning applications.

The framework also aims to provide for the needs of the community, as set out in Liverpool First’s Sustainable Community Strategy, by continually involving the public at all stages of the process.  Together, the following elements make up the LDF:

Local Development Scheme (LDS) Sets out the council's timetable for producing the LDF, and which development plan documents we propose to use.
 
Local Development Documents (LDDs) These collectively make up the LDF, and include Core Strategy, Supplementary Planning Documents and 'saved' UDP documents.
 
Statement of Community Involvement This sets out how the council involves people in the development of planning policies and planning applications.
 
Annual monitoring report This is published every December and monitors and reviews the effectiveness of the planning policies and proposals.
