Local newspapers relief

Local newspapers relief provides a discount of £1,500 for office space occupied by local newspapers. The government has extended this relief up to 2024/25.

The relief is specifically for traditional local newspapers and is not available to magazine publishers.

Who qualifies for the relief?

To qualify, the property must be occupied by a local newspaper and completely or mainly used as office for journalists and reporters.

Discount can only be awarded once to a property regardless of how many separate newspaper titles are based in it, and is also subject to state aid limits.
