Consultation on admission policies for community and community controlled schools

What are we consulting on?

The School Admissions Code (GOV.UK) requires all local authorities to have co-ordinated arrangements for admission into Reception and Year 7. It is our duty to:

  • Determine the admission policies for community and community controlled schools.
  • Determine and co-ordinate admission arrangements to ensure that school places are offered and allocated in accordance with the Schools Admissions Code.  

Every seven years, we are required to carry out a consultation on our current co-ordinated school admissions arrangements. 

How to comment

Please view our co-ordinated school admission arrangements and email your comments on them to the Admissions Team at admissions@liverpool.gov.uk. 

What happens to my views?

Once the consultation closes, results will be accessed by a restricted team of Liverpool City Council staff only.  

Responses will be summarised for inclusion in the report. Your comments may be included in the report, but this will be done anonymously. 

The data from this consultation will be kept securely for a maximum of 12 months and then destroyed. 

What happens next?

The results will be used to inform Liverpool City Council’s admission arrangements and policy. 

The results will be published in the school admissions section of this website in February 2026.

They will also be submitted to committee and cabinet as soon as possible, with a view to determining the 2027-28 admissions arrangements at March 2026’s cabinet session.
