Freedom of Information improvement plan

The council was served with an enforcement notice on 1st September 2025 by the Information Commissioner. This notice requires the council to clear the backlog of FoI requests by no later than 8th January 2026, and meet the 20-day response time for all requests going forward. 

The council was also required to publish an improvement plan by 30th September 2025, setting out the outcome of a lessons learned exercise, and the activities it is implementing to improve its approach. 

The plan will ensure that improvements are sustained, and that the council consistently responds to requests within the 20-day time limit going forward.
