Due to the volume of data the map will take roughly 20 seconds to fully load.
1. Select 'property search' at the top of the page. This will centre the map on the Liverpool area.
2. Enter the postcode or street name you wish to locate and click 'OK'.
3. Select a property, then minimise the box by clicking on the purple arrow.
4. Click on the map pin (highlighted yellow) for the selected property and an information box will open. Click on the '+' to expand the 'Tree preservation orders' and/or 'conservation areas' data links.
5. This will open up a purple box showing the TPO number and location and the option to download the TPO.
Things to note
- Red hatchings on the map indicate TPO areas.
- Blue hatchings on the map indicate conservation areas.
If there are no red or blue hatchings in the location you search for or no TPO/conservation area data when you select your property, this indicates you are not in a conservation area or the tree is not subject to a TPO. You can check this by selecting 'show layers' then 'TPOs & ConsAreas to the left of the screen, and make sure both layers are selected by ticking the box, as illustrated below:

4. On the left, select 'Show layers', then 'TPOs & ConsAreas' to the left of the screen, as shown below. Things to note:
- Red hatchings on the map indicate TPO areas.
- Blue hatchings on the map indicate conservation areas.
We advise you to uncheck the Tree Preservation Orders box so you can see clearly if there are any blue hatchings, which would indicate that your property is in a conservation area.
If there are no red or blue hatchings in the location you search for or no TPO/conservation area data when you select your property, this indicates you are not in a conservation area or the tree is not subject to a TPO.

There are 2 ways to use the map. Search using the layers, or search using an address.
1. Search by layers - The map loads showing the LCC boundary and a property search pop up opens. Close the property search pop up box (unless you want to search by address - skip to step 4), then expand the Local Plan layer on the left-hand side.
2. Select what type of data/layer you want to display. For example, if you want to see housing development sites, tick 'Site for Housing Development' on the left to show those areas on the map. Click on a shaded area/location on the map for more detail about the site (you may need to zoom in on the map to see some of the smaller shaded areas).
3. When you click on the shaded area of the map, this will open up the site reference number and site description.
4. Search by address - To do this, click on the magnifying glass next to the 'Property Search' field at the top of the screen. This opens up the property search box. Enter a postcode or partial address and select 'OK'.
5. This will bring up a list of locations within that area. Tick the box next to the location you want to view on the map. Then minimise the property search box by clicking on the arrow on the left side of the box, so you can view the map.
6. Click on the map pin to show the property details.
7. Changing the map background - You can view the map in colour or greyscale. To change the background expand the 'Background Mapping' option on the left-hand side. Select your background preference.
8. Moving around the map - You can zoom in and out of the map by using the plus/minus magnifying glass signs at the bottom of the map. You can also use the wheel on your mouse to do this, if you have one. To move the map around, you can click the left mouse button and drag the map to the required location.
