Dangerous or fallen trees

If a tree looks dangerous and could imminently cause injury, harm or damage, or a tree has fallen and is blocking the road or pavement, please tell us:

  • Call 0151 233 3001 Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm.
  • Outside these hours call Merseyside Police on 999 or 101.

Do not contact us online to report dangerous trees as it will not notify the emergency teams and will delay inspection, which could result in serious harm.

What happens next?

We will notify the emergency teams who will carry out an assessment. The contractor will attend to the most urgent situations first to make the tree safe in the first instance, and return soon after to carry out the remedial work.

We will inspect and assess all reports within the hour (24/7). We cannot give timescales to complete the work, as this will depend on how many calls we receive and how urgent each case is in terms of public safety.

In instances where a storm has resulted in fallen trees or branches, we will assess each tree and prioritise works based on risk. This may mean that a tree, or stacked cut up timber, may be left for a few days whilst we attend to other damage across the city.

Please be patient and only log a report once. Attempting to log repeated calls is not helpful and will result in unnecessary delays.

If a fallen tree has damaged your property

If there is significant damage to your property as a result of the fallen tree, find out how to submit a property damage claim. This only applies to trees on council-owned land that have fallen into your property.
