Who is the data controller for the information I provide?

Liverpool City Council (LCC) is the data controller for the information that you provide. 

Why we collect your data

We need to collect information to check your eligibility for a grant and assess your request for funding. 

What is the legal basis for collecting and processing this data?

According to the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, we have a reason to collect and use your information to:

  • assess your eligibility for a grant
  • manage and process your application and supporting documents
  • correspond with you
  • provide you with information or referrals to further relevant funds
  • share your personal data with DfE for programme oversight

The lawful basis that applies to this processing is Article 6(1)(e) of the UK GDPR; that processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the controller; data being processed belongs to business contacts processed during the routine course of business of a government department.

Information we may collect

We only obtain and use the information we need to provide our services to you and as part of the council's obligation to appraise the impact of this grant allocation.

Personal data collected includes:

  • name of contact at the business
  • name of contact for an individual considering starting a business
  • email address
  • contact telephone numbers
  • position in the business
  • address and postcode - this may be a residential address if the business is registered at home address, or for an individual considering starting a business

We are not permitted to collect information we do not need or will not use. We don’t sell your personal information to anyone else.

Do I have to provide this information, and what will happen if I don’t?

If you are not able to provide some or all of the information, we may not be able to provide you with the services that you have requested.

Who will your information be shared with?

The only body your data may be shared with is the Department for Education (DfE).

How long will you keep this information for?

We will retain this information for up to seven years from your application for funding, or until such time as the data is reviewed by us or removed at your request.

How will my information be stored?

Data is stored in a range of different places, including in the LCC IT and email systems.

LCC takes the security of your data seriously. We have internal policies and controls in place to try to ensure that your data is not lost, accidentally destroyed, misused or disclosed and is not accessed except by its employees in the performance of their duties.

Will this information be used to take automated decisions about me? 

No.

Will my data be transferred abroad?

No.
