Talking Bins

Why should you recycle?

Using your blue bin properly leads to an easy bin day collection and a better environment.

Question mark over open blue bin

Right now, Liverpool has the second lowest recycling rate in England. But working together we can improve recycling in our city.

When you separate your rubbish correctly, you not only avoid rejected bin collections but you’re also directly helping your local area become greener and cleaner and contributing to a more environmentally friendly world.

By using your blue bin correctly, you're helping to:

  • keep your neighbourhoods and streets clean and tidy — especially during those windy months as overflowing bins can sometimes cause rubbish to be scattered around
  • cut waste management costs across the city.
  • reduce the amount air pollution created by incinerating waste

Every time you recycle, you're also helping Liverpool play its part in:

  • reducing carbon emissions
  • supporting the reuse of natural materials instead of sourcing new ones
  • protecting wildlife and natural habitats from waste and pollution
  • tackling climate change

So, every used tube of kitchen roll, empty bottle of shower gel and cardboard box that's redirected from your purple bin to your blue bin is part of creating a cleaner city and healthier planet for you and generations to come.
