How to transfer your licence
You can transfer your Hackney Carriage licence to a private hire licence, and vice versa.
To transfer your licence, please apply using the form below. Please select 'transfer licence application' when prompted. You will need to upload an image of your current driving licence.

The fee a licence transfer is £35.00 - we'll request this payment once your application has been accepted.
Once your transfer application is accepted and payment has been made, we will issue your new licence with the same end-date as your original licence. We will also ask you to return the original ID badge and paper licence to us.
How to apply for a dual licence
You can hold both a private hire and Hackney Carriage licence at the same time - this is known as a dual licence.
If you are a new driver or are renewing your licence, you can do this when you apply.
Existing drivers who want to convert to a dual licence mid-licence must have a DBS dated within 6 weeks, unless they are on the DBS update service.
