Communities and safety

Armed Forces communities

Liverpool City Council is committed to supporting people serving in the regular and reserve Armed Forces and veterans, as well as their families.

As part of this commitment, we have developed Service Leavers Liverpool — a dedicated website for people who are preparing to leave the Armed Forces and planning to make their home in Liverpool.

Service Leavers Liverpool has plenty of information on how to get a job, find a new home, and stay fit and well.

Liverpool Armed Forces Community Partnership Group

The Partnership Group brings together organisations from across the city to strengthen support for serving personnel, veterans, reservists and military families.

The group works collaboratively to deliver the commitments of the Armed Forces Covenant, improve access to services, and identify priorities and coordinate activity to improve outcomes for the Armed Forces community.

The Partnership includes representatives from:

  • the council
  • veteran support organisations
  • the Armed Forces
  • the NHS
  • education providers
  • housing services
  • other key stakeholders.

Meetings take place quarterly and are chaired by Liverpool’s Armed Forces Champion, Councillor Declan Henry.
