CCTV: accessing information about you

We operate CCTV cameras in public spaces across Liverpool and in council buildings.

These cameras are used by different service areas in the council for a range of reasons, including crime detection and prevention, traffic monitoring and bus lane enforcement and public reassurance.

Each service area must comply with legislation and meet strict codes of practice when managing and monitoring CCTV.

Find out more about the council service areas that monitor and manage CCTV and the laws and codes they must follow.

How do I access CCTV images?

Only use this process for CCTV requests. All other personal data stored by the council can be requested via 'How to access your data'.

City Watch manages all requests for images.

If you want to find out what information, if any, is held about you on council managed CCTV you can apply to City Watch by downloading the application form and guidance notes below.

Please remember to include two ID documents. Details can be found on the form. We are legally obliged to reply within 30 days of your request.

Certain information may be exempt where footage is held for the prevention and detection of crime, or where information may prejudice the apprehension and prosecution of offenders.
