Professional referrals
What to do if you are a professional and are concerned about someone who is at risk of radicalisation.
Get advice and support
In the first instance you should contact your organisation's designated safeguarding lead.
Alternatively, you can contact the council's Prevent Team, Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm, to discuss your concerns or for advice and support, or if you need help to complete a Prevent referral.
We aim to respond to you to discuss your concerns within three working days.

This is the official government form for professionals to submit a Prevent referral if you are concerned about a person being susceptible to radicalisation. You can type in the boxes then save the file to your computer.
- Email the completed form to the Merseyside Police Prevent team at prevent@merseyside.police.uk
- If it is a children's referral, you must send a copy of the form to CASScontacts@liverpool.gov.uk
- If it is an adult's referral, you must send a copy of the form to AdultAccessSafeguardingTeam@liverpool.gov.uk
This dual process will ensure that any additional safeguarding concerns can be addressed by the appropriate safeguarding teams, whilst Prevent police focus on the radicalisation risks.
No support can be provided to anyone without first obtaining their informed consent.
What happens next?
Prevent Police will carry out checks and may contact the referrer for further information.
