Professional referrals

What to do if you are a professional and are concerned about someone who is at risk of radicalisation.

Get advice and support

In the first instance you should contact your organisation's designated safeguarding lead.

Alternatively, you can contact the council's Prevent Team, Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm, to discuss your concerns or for advice and support, or if you need help to complete a Prevent referral.

We aim to respond to you to discuss your concerns within three working days.

Submit a Prevent referral

  1. Email the completed form to the Merseyside Police Prevent team at prevent@merseyside.police.uk
  2. If it is a children's referral, you must send a copy of the form to CASScontacts@liverpool.gov.uk
  3. If it is an adult's referral, you must send a copy of the form to AdultAccessSafeguardingTeam@liverpool.gov.uk

This dual process will ensure that any additional safeguarding concerns can be addressed by the appropriate safeguarding teams, whilst Prevent police focus on the radicalisation risks.

No support can be provided to anyone without first obtaining their informed consent.

What happens next?

Prevent Police will carry out checks and may contact the referrer for further information.

For any further information, please contact the Liverpool Prevent Team.
