Merseyside Violence Reduction Partnership

Liverpool City Council is a leading partner within Merseyside's Violence Reduction Partnership (VRP). The VRP was established as part of the national Serious Violence Strategy, in response to increases in knife crime, gun crime and homicide across the country.

We are one of 18 Violence Reduction Units (VRUs) across England and Wales. We renamed ourselves a Violence Reduction Partnership as it reflects our way of working.

The VRP brings together:

  • Merseyside Police
  • Merseyside Fire and Rescue
  • Local government
  • National Probation Service
  • County's Youth Offending Service
  • Health and education professionals
  • Community leaders
  • Other key partners

We have received £3.37m of funding to support Merseyside's efforts to make our communities safer and healthier.
