Amount spent on council resources and consultancy for Levelling Up Fund bids

Dear Mr Ryder,

Thank you for your recent request. Your request was actioned under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 in which you requested the following information.

Question

Please could you detail how much was spent on council resources and consultancy fee when preparing and submitting Liverpool City Council's two Levelling Up Fund bids for the latest round of the fund which was announced in January 2023.

This query is in relation to how much it cost the council to bid for funding in the most recent round, in which it was unsuccessful in both of its bids for Great Homer Street and West Everton, as well as Paddington Village.

Response

Liverpool submitted 2 bids to the Levelling Up fund - Round 2, Paddington Village Innovation Zone and North Liverpool Regeneration.

The monies spent on these bids was funded for by the Department of Levelling Up and Communities.

Savills UK was commissioned to provide project development support and bid preparation for both of the bids. The total fees amounted to £117,500.

The total estimated cost to the local authority of putting the bids together is:

  • £117,500 (Savills fees as above) plus an additional 10 days of council staff time.

The City Council will consider appeals, referrals or complaints in respect of your Freedom of Information Act 2000 and you must submit these in writing to Informationrequests@liverpool.gov.uk within 28 days of receiving your response.

The matter will be dealt with by an officer who was not previously involved with the response and we will look to provide a response within 40 days.
