This neighbourhood has a proud identity with a high number of council neighbourhood assets. With a strong business and residential offer, this most southernly neighbourhood has a thriving community with a shared sense of purpose and belonging.

Neighbourhood priorities

  1. Improve the use and management of currently unused land and addressing key environmental issues in the neighbourhood.
  2. Develop a partnership response to addressing criminal activity, domestic violence and anti-social behaviour whilst building confidence with council, Police and other relevant services.
  3. Support a thriving Speke and Garston community and voluntary sector, increase a sense of ownership and belonging through community-led events that foster increased community cohesion and pride.
  4. Work alongside partners and residents to improve access to local services and ownership of the local environment, facilities and opportunities.
  5. Support the aspirations of young people in conjunction with local services and stakeholders.
  6. Work collaboratively to tackle health inequalities, improving physical, mental and general wellbeing in our community.

These neighbourhood priorities have a strong alignment with the Council Plan Pillars and will be pivotal in the delivery of the plan itself, as well as wider partnership city plans and strategies.

The neighbourhood model explained

Each neighbourhood is led by a designated manager who works collaboratively with council services and partners to identify and address the key issues facing the neighbourhood.

By adopting the neighbourhood approach rather than 'one size fits all' model, we will ensure solutions are tailored. We will:

  • use data and insight
  • listen to and understand local needs and demands model
  • work alongside our diverse communities to drive improvements
  • achieve the best possible outcomes at a neighbourhood level
