Goal 6 outcomes (26 to 30)

To realise our goal, we will progress the following outcomes:

  1. Innovation, productivity and investment drives economic growth

Liverpool is home to world-leading specialisms that drive our competitive edge. We will leverage the strengths of our key sectors and clusters through research, innovation and place-based collaboration to increase productivity, widen the benefits of growth and the transition to a low carbon economy. We will also seek opportunities to utilise new technologies to improve productivity and accelerate growth.

  2. The city has a vibrant, productive and resilient business base

We will support the growth of our small businesses, start-ups, and entrepreneurs by creating a supportive environment that nurtures ambition in our local economy. Harnessing the collective power of these businesses will be key to driving growth and innovation, creating jobs and nurturing the city’s strong entrepreneurial spirit.

  3. People’s aspirations are supported through access to education, skills development, employment, and career building

We will ensure local people benefit from economic growth by supporting career aspirations, in work progression and work-life balance. We will provide our communities with the education and tools to develop their skills, secure employment and build a successful career, investing in diverse pathways to create opportunities for all, particularly those facing barriers to employment.

  4. Strong foundations are in place for a competitive and accessible city

We will improve connectivity and transport networks to improve people’s access to jobs, services and opportunities. We are committed to making the city accessible to everyone. By investing in digital, transport and physical infrastructure, we aim to create a more accessible, competitive and sustainable city.

  5. There is enhanced social, community and cultural infrastructure

We will ensure that all development and growth create a positive and lasting impact in our local communities. Neighbourhood regeneration, housing, and community infrastructure will play a critical role in creating a liveable city, providing spaces for people and businesses to thrive, and ensuring long-term social and economic inclusion for everyone.
